Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science in India.
The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the importance of libraries,
reading habits, and the wide range of print and digital resources available to support their
academic and intellectual development.
On the occasion, Dr. Mahipal Dutt, Librarian, delivered an informative PowerPoint
presentation highlighting the significant role of the library in students’ academic and personal
growth. He acquainted students with the college library’s valuable collection, including its
rare books and magazines, and explained the various library services available to students.
Special emphasis was placed on the National Digital Library of India (NDLI), and students
were informed about its extensive digital learning resources and how they could access and
utilise them effectively.
Prof. Harwinder Kaur, Library Committee Member, apprised the students of the awards
instituted by the college to encourage reading and recognise students who make exemplary
use of library facilities. She explained the criteria and significance of the Best Library Reader
Award and Best Library Volunteer Award.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Satinder Kaur, Principal, encouraged students to develop a
regular reading habit and make optimum use of both the physical and digital resources of the
library. She emphasised that knowledge acquired through books not only enriches students’
intellectual abilities but also contributes significantly to the development of their personality,
critical thinking and practical outlook.
As part of the programme, the Best Library Volunteer Awards were presented to Miss
