Under the aegis of SGHGU Hari Trust and able guidance of Dr. Navdip
Kaur, Principal (officiating) National Sports Day was celebrated at
Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd on August 29, 2026 by
Sports Committee. This day is observed annually to celebrate the birth
anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, the legendary field hockey player
widely regarded as the wizard of hockey. Mr. Harpreet Singh
(Vicky Deol), a renowned fitness and martial art expert, Youth mentor ,
motivational speaker and social worker from Punjab who holds
Guinness Book of World Record for doing 80 thumb pushups in one
minute graced the occasion as Chief Guest and was accorded a green
welcome by presenting a sapling. Dr Navdip Kaur delivered the formal
welcome address and shared the significance of the day. Mr. Harpreet
Singh addressed the students highlighting the importance of hard work,
discipline , and setting lofty goals for achieving success in life. He
shared his struggles while exhorting students that said positive
outlook, determination, routine workout , good diet help in maintaining
excellent health and ensures accomplishment as a sportsperson. He
practically demonstrated various exercises , self defense strategies and
conducted interesting activities in which the audience enthusiastically
participated. Dr. Inderjit Kaur conducted the proceedings of the
programme effectively. Active participant students were given Track-
Suits. The Chief Guest was felicitated with a memontoe and lohi. Dr.
Jasdeep Kaur, Convenor of Sports Committee proposed the formal vote
of thanks. Refreshment of fruits and juice was provided to the
participants.
