Teej Festival Organised at Khalsa College for Women Sidhwan Khurd.


The traditional festival of Teej ‘ Teeyan Teej Diyan’ dedicated to mothers , daughters and sisters
was organised with customary gaiety and fervour at Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd
on August 8, 2026 a premier rural women education institution of the region. The programme
commenced with the recital of shabad. Mrs. Rajinder Pal Kaur Chhina, Member of the Punjab
Legislative Assembly , Ludhiana ( South) and a proud alumna of this prestigious college graced
the event as Chief Guest and was accorded a green welcome with a sapling. Dr. Satinder Kaur,
Principal formally welcomed the distinguished guests and extended heartiest greetings to all.
Anjali of BCom III enlightened the audience about the customary significance of Teej
celebrations and its relevance in contemporary times. Fun, frolic and enthusiasm marked the
occasion as a colourful cultural programme comprising of energetic dances, folk songs and
histrionics performances enlivened ssthe atmosphere. Miss Teej contest was held in which the
participants walked the ramp wearing heritage jewelry and traditional attire. The winners were
declared on the basis of introduction round and question answer session on the knowledge of
Punjabi culture. Gurreet Kaur of B.Sc. BEd III was crowned Miss Teej. Anshdeep Kaur of B.A. III
and Anjali Sharma of B.Com III bagged the first runners up and second runners up position
respectively. Dr. Balwinder Kaur, Dr. Paramjit Kaur, Prof. Ashwani Jain and Dr. Jaspreet Kaur
effectively judged the participants. The prizes for the competition were sponsored by Aman’z
Courture , Clothing House, an enterprise owned by Mrs. Amanpreet Kaur Marwaha. The Chief
guest addressed the audience and said that it was due to her teachers that she attained success
in life and profession as a politician. She inspired the girls to be confident and told them to
respect their culture, language and values.She assured that she would ask the authorities to
provide every possible support to the students who want to be self employed. Dr. Satinder
Kaur Principal of the college thanked Mrs. Rajinder Kaur Chhina for sparing her precious time
and accepting the invitation. Dr. Satinder Kaur conveyed her best wishes to everyone on the
auspicious festival of Teej. She praised the dazzling performance of the students and lauded the
efforts of the organizing team for putting forth a brilliant show. She said that the College will
implement the entrepreneurship schemes of the government for making students self reliant.
Dr. Inderjit Kaur, co convenor of the programme along with Ekaspreet Kaur and Muskan Gaba
both students of BSc BEd II conducted the proceedings of the stage effectively .Dr. Gagandeep
Dharni , convenor of the function proposed the formal vote of thanks. The Chief Guest and
