Under the aegis of Shri Guru Hargobind Ujagar Hari Trust and the visionary
guidance of Principal Dr. Satinder Kaur, the NSS Units of Khalsa College for
Women, Sidhwan Khurd celebrated World Environment Day on June 05, 2026
through a Community Outreach Programme. As part of the programme, NSS
volunteers reached out to members of the community and sensitized them about
the importance of environmental protection, conservation of biodiversity and
sustainable living practices. The volunteers emphasized the need to reduce
pollution, conserve natural resourcesand protect ecosystems for future
generations.To further spread awareness, volunteers prepared and shared
informative videos highlighting the significance of World Environment Day and
the collective responsibility of individuals in safeguarding the environment.
Through these videos, they encouraged people to adopt eco-friendly habits and
actively participate in environmental conservation initiatives.Demonstrating
their commitment towards a greener future, NSS volunteers also planted
saplings at their homes and pledged to nurture them. The plantation activity
aimed to increase green cover and instill a sense of environmental responsibility
among students and community members. Principal Dr. Satinder Kaur
appreciated the efforts of the volunteers and encouraged them to continue
participating in such meaningful initiatives. Emphasizing that environmental
protection is a shared responsibility, she urged students to adopt sustainable
practices in their daily livesNSS Programme Officers Dr.Inderjit Kaur and Dr.
Amandeep Kaur guided the volunteers throughout the programme and
motivated them to become responsible citizens dedicated to environmental
stewardship. They highlighted the crucial role of youth in addressing
environmental challenges and preserving biodiversity. On this occasion, the
college Principal along with faculty members, participated in a plantation drive
and planted saplings of various species in the college gardens, reinforcing the
college's commitment to environmental conservation.The programme
successfully created awareness about environmental conservation and inspired
participants to contribute towards building a cleaner, greener and more
sustainable world.
