Under the aegis of Shri Guru Hargobind Ujagar Hari Trust and the able
guidance of Principal Dr. Satinder Kaur, the valedictory session of the 7-Day
Faculty Development Programme on “Indian Knowledge Systems” was
successfully organized on May 31, 2026 by the IQAC of Khalsa College for
Women, Sidhwan Khurd. The session was conducted in online mode and
witnessed the enthusiastic participation of more than 30 faculty members and
academicians.The resource person for the valedictory session was
Dr. RashimWadhwa, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Education,
Akal University, Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda. The programme commenced with a
welcome address by IQAC Coordinator Prof.Roopa Kaur Rai, who warmly
welcomed the resource person and participants.Dr.RashimWadhwa delivered an
insightful lecture on the topic “Bridging Eras: Indian Knowledge System and
Future of Education.” During her lecture, she highlighted the significance of the
National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and evolution of educational policies in
India. She elaborated upon the key features of the British Colonial Education
System and discussed the need to bridge Indian Knowledge Systems with
modern education for creating a more culturally rooted educational framework.
Furthermore, she explained the alignment of Bloom’s Taxonomy with Sikh
principles and shared valuable insights into the future of Indian Higher
Education in the context of ongoing educational reforms and emerging national
priorities.The session proved to be highly beneficial for teachers as it provided a
deeper understanding of how Indian Knowledge Systems can be meaningfully
integrated into contemporary education to promote critical thinking, ethical
values, cultural awareness, and holistic development among learners. The
lecture encouraged educators to play an active role in implementing the vision
of NEP 2020 and transforming educational practices in the 21st century.The
session concluded with an interactive discussion and query session, followed by
a formal vote of thanks presented by Prof. Roopa Kaur Rai. The seven-day
Faculty Development Programme successfully provided a valuable platform for
academic enrichment and meaningful deliberations on the relevance of Indian
Knowledge Systems in contemporary education.
