Continuing its commitment to promoting academic excellence and the rich heritage of Indian
Knowledge Systems, the IQAC of Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd organized the
sixth day of the 7-Day Faculty Development Programme under the aegis of Shri Guru
Hargobind Ujagar Hari Trust and under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Satinder Kaur. The
session was conducted in online mode and the link for the session was shared through various
social media platforms to facilitate the participation of faculty members and academicians. The
resource person for the day was Dr. Tripta Parmar, Principal, Sant Darbara Singh College of
Education for Women, Lopon. She delivered an insightful lecture on the topic “Indian
Knowledge Systems and Holistic Education: Pedagogical Perspectives and Contemporary
Relevance.” During her lecture, Dr. Parmar elaborated on the meaning and scope of Indian
Knowledge Systems and highlighted the significance of holistic education in nurturing the
intellectual, emotional, moral and spiritual dimensions of learners. She discussed various
pedagogical perspectives rooted in Indian traditions, with special emphasis on the Gurukul
System, experiential learning and reflective learning as effective approaches to education. The
resource person further shared classroom perspectives for integrating the principles of Indian
Knowledge Systems into the teaching-learning process. The session proved to be highly
enriching and beneficial for faculty members as it provided practical insights into adopting
learner-centred, value-based and holistic pedagogical approaches in contemporary classrooms.
It also encouraged educators to integrate traditional wisdom with modern educational practices
for creating meaningful learning experiences. The online stage proceedings of the session were
efficiently conducted by Dr. Jasdeep Kaur.
