Khalsa College for Women Sidhwan Khurd Organizes Extension Lecture on POSH Act 2013


The Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cell of Khalsa College for Women Sidhwan Khurd organised an Extension Lecture on POSH Act 2013 on May 28, 2026.             Advocate S. Manjinder Singh Bhullar Deputy Advocate General Punjab, Punjab Haryana High Court Chandigarh was the Resource Person. Prof.Hardeep Kaur formally welcomed the eminent guest and participants. Advocate S.Manjinder Singh Bhullar commenced his lecture by paying homage to the noble philosophy of Guru Nanak Dev Ji who eulogized women in his Holy Bani.  He highlighted the fact that the preservation of the modesty of women has been a part of moral ethical values and is enshrined  in our Constitution. He gave information about the laws related to the safeguarding of women safety and respect in India since Independence. The landmark 'Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act  2013'  ensued  from the contemporary demand to address female security issues after Nirbhaya case. He said that this Act protects women and also has adverse provisions for the culprits. S.Bhullar defined the denotative and connotative meaning of modesty and sexual harassment. He also explained the extended meaning of workplace as understood in POSH 2013 Act. The procedure of registering complaint related to sexual harassment at workplace and the role of the organization for providing grievance redress were discussed elaborately. The factors considered while according penalty and  compensation as well as the protective measures against stalling the process of justice were told. S.Bhullar said that the dichotomy of thought in the Indian patriarchal system victimize  women and renders them voiceless when they encounter sexual violence.  Dr. Satinder Kaur, Principal of the college stressed the role of the employer in providing a secure environment to the females. She praised Dr. Gagandeep Dharni and Prof. Hardeep Kaur organizing the lecture. The participants put queries to the Resource Person which he satisfactory answered.
