Under the aegis of Shri Guru Hargobind Ujagar Hari Trust and the able guidance of Principal Dr. Satinder Kaur, the IQAC of Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd organized a Mental Health Awareness Programme on April 25, 2026. The programme aimed to create awareness among students regarding the importance of mental well-being and to equip them with practical strategies to manage stress and emotional challenges. The programme featured two eminent resource persons: Dr. Yashpal Azad, Associate Professor of Psychology at Eternal University, Baru Sahib and Mrs. Gurmail Kaur, Chief Manager–Training (Retd.) from State Bank Institute of Learning and Development (SBILD), Patiala. Dr. Yashpal Azad spoke on understanding mental health and highlighted major mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. He elaborated on cross-cutting indicators and key drivers affecting mental health. He also addressed prevalent myths, taboos and stigma associated with mental health in society. The session included practical exercises such as deep breathing and progressive muscle relaxation, which were demonstrated to help students manage stress effectively. Mrs. Gurmail Kaur discussed the causes of conflicts and various types of workplace conflicts. She emphasized the importance of empathy and proper communication as key factors in resolving conflicts effectively. Her session provided practical insights into handling interpersonal issues and maintaining healthy relationships in both personal and professional environments. The stage proceedings were conducted by Prof. Ashish Kumar, while the programme was efficiently organized by Prof. Roopa Kaur Rai, IQAC Coordinator. The programme concluded on a positive note, leaving the participants more aware and empowered to take care of their mental health and well-being.
