Under the aegis of Shri Guru Hargobind Ujagar Hari Trust and under the able
guidance of Principal Dr. Satinder Kaur, the Department of Science of Khalsa
College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd celebrated the International Day of
Mathematics on March 16, 2026 with great enthusiasm. International Day of
Mathematics is celebrated annually on March 14 across the world to highlight the
vital role of mathematics in science, technology and everyday life. On this
occasion, a documentary on Pi (π) was shown to the students to make them
aware of the significance and interesting facts related to mathematics. A
Mathematics Quiz Competition was also organized to encourage students to
develop logical thinking and problem-solving skills. Six different teams
participated enthusiastically in the competition and displayed impressive
knowledge. The quiz was conducted by Prof. Ashwani Jain, who made the event
engaging and informative for the participants as well as the audience. Students
from Sikh Girls Senior Secondary School , Sidhwan Khurd were also present on the
occasion and actively participated in the programme. Addressing the gathering,
Principal Dr. Satinder Kaur emphasized the importance of mathematics in
scientific development and daily life and encouraged students to cultivate
analytical and logical thinking.The winners were felicitated with cash prizes for
their outstanding performance. The programme concluded with a formal vote of
thanks by Prof. Rajni, who expressed gratitude to the management, principal,
faculty members and students for making the event successful.
